MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611049759 A) filed by Noida Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on April 19, for 'an automated firmware update mechanism for distributed iot nodes.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Mamta Chauhan; and Vatika Jalali.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated firmware update mechanism for distributed IoT nodes includes an update orchestration server (101), a firmware package repository (102), a deployment policy engine (103), a communication gateway interface (104), and a node-side update agent (106) in a distributed IoT node (105). Firmware is delivered in segments, verified through manifest and cryptographic checks, written into an inactive partition of a secure storage partition set (107), and activated by a boot control module (108). A rollback controller (109) restores a prior image upon post-boot fault detection, thereby enabling secure and recoverable fleet-wide firmware maintenance."
