MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611024197 A) filed by Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on Feb. 28, for 'an automatic pressure- optimized compression paddle for mammography.'
Inventor(s) include Ekta Singh.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an automatic pressure-optimized compression paddle for mammography, falling within the field of medical imaging and radiological instrumentation. The compression paddle comprises a paddle body adapted to compress a breast during a mammography procedure, a pressure sensor array provided on or within the compression paddle for measuring contact pressure applied to breast tissue, a control unit operatively connected to the pressure sensor array, and a motorized compression mechanism operatively connected to the compression paddle. The control unit is configured to receive pressure data from the pressure sensor array and to automatically control the motorized compression mechanism to apply and maintain breast compression within a predetermined optimal pressure range based on breast density. The automatic pressure optimization enables consistent and controlled compression, thereby reducing patient discomfort while maintaining diagnostic image quality during mammographic imaging."
