MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311086562 A) filed by Lg Electronics Inc., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on Dec. 18, 2023, for 'an automatic self-cleaning water filter.'

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automatic self-cleaning water filter (100) for an appliance is provided. The water filter (100) includes a body (108) provided with at least one water inlet (102) and at least two water outlet (104, 106), a rotor (110) configured to rotate inside a body (108) comprising a filter screen (116) and at least one blocker screen (118). Based on the detected flow rate, the rotor (110) is rotated by the motor (120) between a first position and a second position, in the first position the water flows from the water inlet (102) to the appliance via the filter screen (116) and in the second position, the rotor (110) is rotated such that the water flows from the water inlet (102) to a drain outlet via rear side of the filter screen (116) facilitating in cleaning the filter screen (116)."
