MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311082687 A) filed by Northern India Textile Research Association; and National Jute Board, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Dec. 5, 2023, for 'an automotive component and process for manufacturing thereof from waste jute blends for automotive application.'
Inventor(s) include Arindam Basu; Neha Kapil; Prakash Khude; and Mahadeb Dutta.
The application for the patent was published on June 6, under issue no. 23/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention relates to Automotive component including roof liner made of Jute/PP blended nonwoven fabric/felt (M) in the intermediate layer along with polyester nonwoven/decorative knitted fabric/felt (T) and spunbonded Polyester nonwoven fabric (B) as the top and bottom layer respectively. It is associated with the below advantages: -Improves the recyclability of the vehicle after completion of the life cycle; -Simple process of preparing jute and jute blended nonwoven fabric; - Automotive component with flame resistance and mechanical properties; - Automotive component with improved acoustic characteristics; - Automotive component with better fibre strength."
