MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541123881 A) filed by Nitte, Mangaluru, Karnataka, on Dec. 9, 2025, for 'an autonomous light detection and ranging (lidar) and vision-based rover system and method thereof.'

The system (100) comprising a housing (104) further comprising a camera unit (106) configured to capture visual data. The housing (104) further comprising a light detection and ranging (LiDAR) (108) configured as a time-of-flight sensor. The housing (104) further comprising a plurality of servo motors (110) configured to rotate the light detection and ranging (LiDAR) (108). The housing (104) further comprising a processor (112) further comprises a polar transformation module (114) configured to convert angular distance data into three dimensional (3D) coordinates and a reconstruction module (116) configured to use a plurality of geometric algorithms to reconstruct a map. The system (100) also comprises a user device (118) configured to allow a user to control the system (100), remotely."
