MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621018625 A) filed by Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, Maharashtra, on Feb. 18, for 'an electro-hydro powder compaction system and method thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Present invention relates to an electro-hydro powder compaction system and method therof, the system (100), comprising: a. a capacitor bank (3) configured to store and discharge high-voltage electrical energy; b. a thin electrically conductive copper foil (7), positioned within the water chamber (16) and operatively connected to the capacitor bank (3); c. a water chamber (16) designed to generate a shock wave upon foil vaporization; and d. a punch-die assembly comprising the punch (15) and die (14) positioned in operative alignment with the water chamber (16); wherein discharge of energy causes foil detonation, generating a shock wave that accelerates the punch (15) to compact loose powder (12) within the die (14)."
