MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621031312 A) filed by Symbiosis International, Pune, Maharashtra, on March 13, for 'an ergonomically configured handle for a hand-held agricultural sickle.'

Inventor(s) include Sai Dhadphale; and Tanmayee Puntambekar.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an ergonomically configured handle for a hand-held agricultural sickle. The sickle comprises a curved metallic blade and a contoured handle having a convex palm-supporting region, a narrowed waist portion for finger grip, and a downwardly curved terminal end forming a slip-prevention stop. The handle geometry promotes improved wrist alignment and pressure distribution during harvesting operations. The invention enhances grip stability and reduces muscular fatigue while maintaining compatibility with conventional sickle blade structures."
