MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621031313 A) filed by Symbiosis International, Pune, Maharashtra, on March 13, for 'an ergonomically contoured measuring tape casing with integrated hand grip structure.'
Inventor(s) include Samar Chavan; and Tanmayee Puntambekar.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An ergonomically contoured measuring tape assembly is disclosed. The assembly comprises a housing body enclosing a coiled measuring blade and a spring-biased retraction mechanism. The housing body includes an integrally formed downwardly extending grip structure defining an open recess configured to receive a user's fingers. The grip structure comprises a convex palm-contacting region and a curved inner finger-supporting surface configured to distribute gripping forces and promote neutral wrist alignment during use. Textured surface regions may be provided to enhance friction. The structural configuration improves grip stability, reduces wrist strain, and facilitates controlled one-handed operation while remaining compatible with conventional measuring tape mechanisms."
