MUMBAI, India, June 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202241072562 A) filed by Ordnance Factory Medak, Sangareddy, Telangana, on Dec. 15, 2022, for 'an improved manned turret for infantry combat vehicle.'

The application for the patent was published on June 27, under issue no. 26/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses an improved manned turret for infantry combat vehicle. The improved turret for BMP-II infantry combat vehicle has mounting provisions for a smoke grenade launcher (6) and add on armour panels on side and rear plates of the turret. There are provisions (1, 4) for two weapons i.e., Missile/Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) and Loitering Munitions System on both the sides of the turret. A mounting provision (2) for Remote Control Weapon Station (RCWS) with Automatic Grenade Launcher (AGL) and 12.7 mm gun is provided on the top plate of the turret. Mounting provision (5) for advanced sighting system for gunner i.e., Gunner Main Sight (GMS) and provision (3) for commander i.e., Commander Panoramic Sight (CPS) are also provided in the improved turret. The improved turret is designed to fire 7.62 mm and 30 mm caliber ammunitions selectively and offers ballistic protection up to STANAG level-IV."
