MUMBAI, India, June 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202527049175 A) filed by Wirepas Oy, Tampere, Finland, on May 21, for 'an indoor localization solution for wireless communication networks.'

Inventor(s) include Troccoli, Tiago.

The application for the patent was published on June 20, under issue no. 25/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to an indoor localization system (300) for a wireless communication network (200). The indoor localization system (300) comprises: one or more anchor devices (302a-302n), a central entity (306), and one or more tag devices (304a-304n). Trans- mission of signals (301a-301n) by the one or more tag devices (304a-304n) is controlled so that one signal (301a) is transmitted at a time on given radio resource, wherein the tag device (304a) transmitting said one sig- nal (301a) is the tag device (304a) being localized. At least one anchor device (302a) of the one or more an- chor devices (302a-302n) is configured to: receive, via an antenna array (500), the signal (301a) transmitted by the tag device being localized; determine an estimate of a direction of arrival (DOA) based on the received signal (301a) by applying a first power method -based algo- rithm and a second power method -based algorithm re- spectively, and send the estimated DOA together with DOA metadata to the central entity (306). The invention relates also to indoor localization methods, an anchor device, a computer program, and a computer readable medium."

The patent application was internationally filed on Nov. 02, 2023, under International application No.PCT/FI2023/050613.
