Inventor(s) include Dr Somya Choubey; and Ms. Kirti Motwani.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The proposed invention is related to an integrated framework of innovativeness in reducing plastic use and promoting recyclable plastic usage through the combination of three major components including technology, policy and behavioral change to bring a drastic change at the societal level and to support sustainable development goal 15 i.e., Life on land. The framework comprises three components: the policy component, which focuses on developing eco-labeling standards, extended producer responsibility (EPR) regulations, and incentives for businesses adopting sustainable plastic alternatives; the behavioral change component, which leverages consumer engagement strategies, digital awareness platforms, and reward-based systems to promote responsible plastic consumption and disposal; and the technology component, which emphasizes the integration of Blockchain, IoT, AI, ML, and DL in plastic waste management, creating a robust system for tracking, analyzing, and optimizing the entire life cycle of plastic waste.By combining advanced technology, regulatory support, and behavioral interventions, this invention provides a scalable and sustainable solution to plastic pollution. The framework contributes significantly to SDG-15 by protecting terrestrial ecosystems from plastic waste while promoting a circular economy for plastic use. This innovation has potential applications in packaging, waste management, and policy development, driving global sustainability efforts."
