MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611027073 A) filed by K. R. Mangalam University, Gurugram, Haryana, on March 8, for 'an integrated handle-based zipper locking mechanism for soft textile bags.'

Inventor(s) include Sanchita Raj; Indrajeet Kumar; and Paramjeet Kaur.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a concealed, handle-integrated zipper locking mechanism for soft textile bags. A zipper slider having a reinforced eyelet is received into a concealed locking cavity formed in a handle base. A sliding locking pin, guided by a magnetic alignment feature, engages the reinforced eyelet to immobilize the zipper slider and prevent unauthorized zipper opening in crowded commuter environments. Unlocking is performed through an internal user-operated release mechanism positioned inside the bag, enabling a keyless and non-electronic anti-theft solution while preserving the bag's aesthetics and flexibility."
