MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541117150 A) filed by Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu, on Nov. 26, 2025, for 'an intelligent foot pressure monitoring and ulcer risk prediction system.'

Inventor(s) include S. Priyadharsini; Dr. J. Raja Sekar; and R. Theenathayalan.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention discloses an intelligent biomedical system for real-time monitoring of plantar .. pressure and early detection of ulceration risk in diabetic patients. The system includes a sensor mat integrated with a matrix of force-sensitive resistors for collecting foot pressure data, which is processed ro generate spatial hear maps and compute bio mechanical parameters such as center of pressure. A machine learning model, trained on diabetic and healthy foot pressure proliles, classilies risk levels based on extracted features. Based on identil~ed high-pressure zones, a custom orthotic insole is fabricated using pressure-relieving design strategies. 'T'he insole also incorporates textile-based pressure sensors using graphcnt:!polypyrrolc coated l"fabrics !'or continuous monitoring. The system provides a personalized, data-driven approach to foot care, supporting early intervention and preventive healthcare for individuals with diabetes."
