MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611023455 A) filed by Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute Of Technology, Jalandhar, Punjab, on Feb. 27, for 'an intra-oral multi-sensor mouthguard for monitoring oral health parameters and method thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Parnika Shrivastava; Dr. Nitesh Kashyap; and Gagan Sharma.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure proposes an intra-oral multi-sensor mouthguard (100) for monitoring oral health parameters. The intra-oral multi-sensor mouthguard (100) comprises a body (102) configured to be worn in the oral cavity of a user, and plurality of sensors (104) configured to acquire oral parameters including hydration, pH, bioimpedance, bite pressure, temperature, and optical infection markers from oral tissues. A sensor management unit (122) coordinates acquisition, processing, and transmission of data from the plurality of sensors (104). A multiplexer (124) sequentially connecting the plurality of sensors (104) to an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) (126) and a microcontroller (128). An energy storage unit (130) stores energy for continuous operation. A wireless communication unit (132) transmits processed data to a user device (10) for real-time monitoring. The mouthguard (100) is ergonomically wearable for long-duration wear and continuous monitoring without external power sources."
