MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641049799 A) filed by ViniBrawn Healthcare Solutions (OPC) Private Limited, Bangalore, Karnataka, on April 19, for 'an iot-based smart wearable safety device with integrated gps tracking, continuous health monitoring, customisable geofencing, and emergency alert system for alzheimer's patients and cognitively impaired individuals.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Nirupama M. P; Mr. Deepanshu Aggarwal; and Ms. Radhika Bhati.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An IoT-Based Smart Wearable Safety Device with Integrated GPS Tracking, Continuous Health Monitoring, Customisable Geofencing, and Emergency Alert System for Alzheimer's Patients and Cognitively Impaired Individuals AlzoWatch (100) is an IoT-based smart wearable safety device developed at BML Munjal University, Gurgaon by inventors Deepanshu Aggarwal and Radhika Bhati. The wearable device (200) integrates a GPS receiver module (210), PPG optical heart rate sensor (220), NTC thermistor body temperature sensor (230), capacitive touch emergency alert sensor (240), rechargeable lithium-ion battery (250), and ERM haptic feedback actuator (260) within a smartwatch form factor. An RTOS-based MCU firmware layer (300) manages sensor data acquisition (310), adaptive GPS duty cycling (320), touch detection with haptic confirmation (330), power management (340), and GSM/GPRS data transmission with TLS encryption and retry handling (350, 360). A secure cloud platform (400) implements real-time geofence monitoring with caregiver-configurable safe-zone polygons and point-in-polygon breach detection (420), two-stage health anomaly detection applying rule-based threshold comparison and statistical Z-score analysis (430), and immediate push alert dispatch (440). A caregiver mobile application (500) for iOS and Android provides a real-time patient location map view (510), interactive geofence configuration (520), live health dashboard (530), alert management panel (540), and historical trend visualisation (560). The system delivers proactive geofence-based wandering prevention alerts, real-time health anomaly detection and caregiver notification, and patient-operable emergency signalling with haptic confirmation, without requiring any patient interaction beyond device wearing. A working prototype was built at BML Munjal University in January-March 2024 and subsequently demonstrated at the Grand Health Innovation Challenge (IIHMR Jaipur), SINUSOID Tech Fest (NIIT Neemrana), Bharat AI Project Expo (Chandigarh), and IASF Project Expo 2025 (VNR VJIET Hyderabad)."
