MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421005026 A) filed by Unilever Ip Holdings BV, Rotterdam, Netherlands, on Jan. 24, 2024, for 'an iron fortified beverage composition.'
Inventor(s) include Vadivel Govindaswamy; Vetri Kumaran; Deepak Ramachandra Mhasavade; Swathy Palagiri; and Balamurugan Velusamy.
The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a tea composition. In particular, the present invention relates to an iron fortified tea composition. Accordingly, the present invention provides a beverage composition comprising; a) a water-soluble iron compound; b) at least one acid; and c) a beverage product, wherein: - the water-soluble iron compound has a solubility in water at 25 C of 0.006g/mL or greater; and - when the acid is ascorbic acid, one or more further acids are also present."
