MUMBAI, India, Dec. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411073331 A) filed by Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Oct. 27, 2024, for 'an omnidirectional vehicle for the bed ambulance.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an omnidirectional vehicle (1000) configured for patient transportation, particularly suitable for ambulance and hospital environments. The vehicle comprises a dual chassis arrangement including a first chassis (100) and a second chassis (200) configured for longitudinal and lateral movement, respectively. A hydraulic lifting mechanism (404) with a scissor linkage (402) is provided between the chassis and a support frame (400) to enable vertical lifting of a patient platform. A sliding frame (500) and a conveyor frame (600) are mounted on the support frame (400) to facilitate smooth and controlled transfer of a patient between the vehicle bed and an adjacent surface. The vehicle further includes a control unit (800) integrated with feedback sensors and a remote-control system (900) to achieve precise, automated, and stable omnidirectional mobility. The invention minimizes manual effort, enhances patient safety, and enables single-operator handling during emergency medical operations."
