MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511008567 A) filed by Dr. Vidhi Gupta, Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Feb. 2, 2025, for 'an oral and maxillofacial rehabilitation kit and a method to use thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an oral and maxillofacial rehabilitation kit (1000) for aiding recovery and functional improvement in individuals suffering from trismus, jaw weakness, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders. The said kit (1000) comprises an assisted device (100) including an upper arm (102), a lower arm (104), a frame (106), strap (108), a dial (110), a connecting band (112), a pinion gear (114), and a lateral support (116), configured to enable gradual and controlled jaw opening in manual and/or motorized modes. The said kit (1000) further comprises a resisted device (300) having ear-engaging loops (302), a connector housing (304), and a chin support member (306) for providing resistance during jaw movement to strengthen jaw musculature. An active exercise booklet (400) with pictorial and textual instructions is included. The invention also discloses a method involving steps (202, 204 and 206) for controlled jaw opening using a rack and pinion mechanism."
