MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631024763 A) filed by Centre For Development Of Advanced Computing, Kolkata, West Bengal, on March 2, for 'apparatus for sequential scanning of multiple microscope slides.'

Inventor(s) include Bej, Gopinath; Barui, Atanu; Ray, Hena; and Murty, Ch. A. S.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An apparatus (100) is disclosed for enabling automated sequential scanning of multiple blood smear slides using a microscope. The apparatus (100) includes a platform body (102) defining a planar surface and having two or more elongated slide receiving openings (104) arranged in a fixed, parallel, and non-overlapping configuration. The platform body (102) is configured to be mounted on a microscope stage (201) through a mounting interface (106), such that movement of the microscope stage (201) causes simultaneous translational movement of the mounted blood smear slides. The apparatus (100) supports sequential scanning of the slides by controlled stage movement along predefined translational paths corresponding to distinct scanning regions of each slide. The platform body (102) is configured as a single-piece structure with uniform thickness to maintain alignment and positional stability during repeated scanning cycles. The apparatus (100) reduces manual slide handling, improves scanning consistency, and supports high-throughput microscopic analysis in laboratory environments."
