MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641050610 A) filed by Vignan's Institute Of Information Technology, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on April 21, for 'application of hydrogen fuel cell for small-scale vehicle propulsion.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Girish Bhiogade; Mr. G. Santosh; Ms. G. Deepika; Ms. G. Yochitha; Mr. Chirra Sai Manikanta; and Dvsp Sekhar.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention introduces a compact hydrogen fuel cell powered small-scale vehicle prototype that delivers clean, zero-emission propulsion for low-power mobility. A Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) uses hydrogen from a small pressurized cylinder and oxygen from the surrounding air to create electricity through a quiet electrochemical reaction, with nothing but pure water as the only leftover. The electricity flows straight to a DC motor that turns the wheels, while built-in pressure controls, flow valves, and a simple electronic monitor keep the whole process safe and steady. Prototype runs showed smooth, reliable movement for nearly an hour on one tank, with instant torque, silent operation, and no fumes at all, proving this design as a practical, low-cost way to showcase hydrogen's promise for everyday green transport."
