MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411017491 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 11, 2024, for 'artificial intelligence-based real-time weather adaption enabled shading device.'

Inventor(s) include Ayon Somaddar; Saksham Azad; and Shivam Pandey.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An artificial intelligence-based real-time weather adaption enabled shading device, comprising an umbrella 1 having a crook handle 2, shaft 3, centre ball spring 19, top spring 4, runner 5, stretcher 6, tube 7, ribs 8, top notch 9, outer canopy 10, open cap 11 and ferrule 12 for protecting user for rainfall and sunlight characterized in that, a LDR which monitors intensity of sunlight and accordingly direction of sun is detected, plurality of solar panels 13 are orientated by a first ball and socket joint 14 for harnessing maximum amount of sunlight, a gyroscopic arrangement 15 detects angle of canopy 10 accordingly a motorized second ball and socket joint 16 orients canopy 10, and multiple pressure sensors detect pressure exerted by raindrops and accordingly second ball and socket joint 16 orients canopy 10 at appropriate angle for providing maximum protection to user from rainfall."
