MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611008713 A) filed by Manav Rachna University, Faridabad, Haryana, on Jan. 28, for 'assistive mobility device for a visually impaired user.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Manpreet Kaur; Shivani Sharma; Sneha Kumari; Eshaan Gupta; and Dr. N. Deepa.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An assistive mobility device for a visually impaired user, comprises of a body 101 mounted over a plurality of motorized Omni-directional wheels 102 to provide omnidirectional movement within a transit station, a sensor suite to acquire environmental, positional, and user-interaction data and generate perception signals for navigation and safety control, an indoor positioning unit to determine real-time location of the body 101 within the station, a guiding unit accessible by the visually impaired user, configured to provide directional, navigational, and safety guidance to the user during movement within the transit station, a navigation and perception unit to identify obstacles, pedestrian flow, platform edges, tactile indicators, and train locations and accordingly regulates the guiding unit, a fall-injury prevention arrangement embedded with the body 101, configured to detect abnormal motion indicative of a fall and provide protection to the user to stabilize the user."
