MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411018831 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on March 14, 2024, for 'assistive pipe fitting device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An assistive pipe fitting device, comprising an extendable C-shaped body 1 configured a handle 2 that is developed to be positioned over an end portion of a pipe, a laser measurement sensor installed on body for measuring circumference for pipe, a drawer arrangement 3 integrated within body for grasping body, multiple suction cups 4 installed under periphery of body for affixing pipe with body, a speaker 5 mounted on body for providing voice commands to user to position pipe over an inlet source, an ultrasonic sensor installed on body for detecting distance of body from inlet, a pair of inverted L-shaped rods 6 installed on body for positioning a suction cup 7 installed on each ends of rods in proximity to a fixed surface near inlet, and a motorized pivot joint 8 installed between body and handle 2 to provide to and fro motion to body."
