MUMBAI, India, Sept. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311020718 A) filed by Galgotias University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on March 23, 2023, for 'assistive seed planting device.'

Inventor(s) include Suraj Kumar; and Dr. Mahesh Singh.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 27, under issue no. 39/2024.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An assistive seed planting device comprising of a frame 1 configured with a handle 2 for allowing a user to maneuver frame 1 across field, multiple chambers 4 each configured with a conical member 5 arranged on frame 1 for storing seeds of various crops, a display panel 10 mounted on frame 1 for enabling user to input details regarding desired type of seed to be planted, an electromagnetic spring 7 coupled between chambers 4 and frame 1 for expanding in order to press conical member 5 within field to create a hole for a seed, an iris lid 6 configured on conical member 5 for creating an opening to dispense seed within hole, a pair of telescopic rods 8 installed on frame 1 for extending and positioning a flap in vicinity to hole for filling soil within hole to appropriately cover seed with soil."
