MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411012438 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 21, 2024, for 'automated bicycle chain maintenance device.'

Inventor(s) include Gagninder Kaur.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated bicycle chain maintenance device, comprising an elongated body 1 configured with a handle 2 to be positioned towards a bicycle chain to be shortened, a display panel 3 installed over the body 1 enabling user's input details, an imaging unit 4 mounted on the body 1 for detecting chain, a pair of robotic grippers 5 installed on the body 1 for gripping and positioning the chain towards a pair of U-shaped members 6 mounted over the body 1, a sliding unit 7 installed on the body 1 for translating the members 6, a linear actuator 8 installed on the body 1 to remove rivet from the chain, a robotic arm 9 attached with the body 1 gripping rivet from a chamber 10 arranged over the body 1 and a receptacle 11 arranged on the body 1 dispensing lubricants on the chain."
