MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531019211 A) filed by Siksha O Anusandhan, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, on March 4, for 'automated cask shaping device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Praveen Priyaranjan Nayak.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated cask shaping device, comprising a platform 101 positioned over a ground surface by means of plurality of wheels 102, platform 101 is accessed by a user to position a circular wooden plate attached with plurality of wooden staves that are to be shaped into a cask, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 103 determines dimensions of plates, plurality of horizontal telescopic rods 104 position a motorized extendable gripper 105 in proximity to plate, a pair of robotic arms 106 wrap rope around upper portion of staves and pull ends of rope in view of applying pressure over staves to shape staves, a pair of robotic grippers 109 access a multi-sectioned chamber 107, a laser sensor monitor diameter of shaped cask, based on which microcontroller directs grippers 109 to withdraw hoops of corresponding diameters and engage around shaped cask to affix shaped staves with each other."
