MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641050876 A) filed by Vignan's Institute Of Information Technology, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on April 21, for 'automated chain lubrication system.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Girish Bhiogade; Mr. B. Rudheer; Mr. V. Eswar Indra Kumar; P. Venkata Sai Nitesh; Y. Akhil; and Y. Yaswanth.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention introduces an automated chain lubrication system designed to enhance the performance and longevity of chain-driven equipment by delivering lubricant exactly when and where it is needed. The system uses a simple infrared sensor to count each chain rotation and triggers a small pump motor through a relay only after a preset number of turns, avoiding the guesswork and waste of manual methods. Powered by a low-cost ESP8266 NodeMCU microcontroller and supported by a clear LCD screen for instant status updates, the entire setup runs on basic 5-volt power and can connect wirelessly for remote checks. Laboratory tests showed a clear drop in chain friction, up to 40 percent less lubricant used, and noticeably longer chain life compared with traditional hand-oiling. Because the device is built from readily available parts and needs almost no ongoing human effort, it offers an affordable, smart upgrade for everyday bikes, motorcycles, and factory conveyor lines alike."
