MUMBAI, India, May 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311079833 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Nov. 24, 2023, for 'automated circular cavity cutting device.'

Inventor(s) include Kaushik Bharti; Vikasdeep Mann; and Pradeep Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on May 30, under issue no. 22/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated circular cavity cutting device comprises of a rectangular plate 1 developed to be installed on a surface from which the user desires to cut a circular cavity, an ultrasonic sensor mapped on the plate 1 for detecting placement of the plate 1 on the surface, a robotic gripper 4 mapped on the plate 1 for withdrawing a nail from a chamber 5 mapped on the plate 1 and inserting the nail inside a cavity mapped at centre of the plate 1, a hammering unit 6 mapped on the plate 1 for hammering and inserting the nail for striking on the nail that aids in insertion of the nail within the surface, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 9 installed on the plate 1 and for capturing and processing images of the surface to determine successful marking of the cut on the surface."
