MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411023432 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 25, 2024, for 'automated crack repairing device.'

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated crack repairing device, comprising a cuboidal housing 1, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 3 determines presence of crack and accordingly each omnidirectional wheels 2 position housing 1 over crack, a laser sensor determines shape and dimension of crack, a chamber 4 stores multiple tar sheets, an air blower 5 removes dust accumulated within crack, a primary robotic gripper 6 positions sheets over a platform 7 arranged within housing 1, multiple suction units 8 adhere sheet with platform 7, an inverted L-shaped telescopic rod 9 extends and positions a motorized cutter 10 over sheet to cut sheet, a flame torch 11 is positioned over crack by a robotic arm 12, and a secondary robotic gripper 13 positions and aligns sheet over crack and followed by actuation of torch 11 to heat positioned sheet(s) for melting sheet(s) for filling crack by means of melted tar sheet."
