MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411003992 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 19, 2024, for 'automated drain cleaning device.'

Inventor(s) include Manish Deshwal.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated drain cleaning device, comprising a body 1 assembled with plurality of linkages 2 interconnected by means of multiple hinge 3 for moving body 1 along drain, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 4 detects dirt on wall of drain, an extendable link 5 configuring three to four rotatable scrubbers 6 to scrub out accumulated dirt from wall, three to four nozzle integrated on scrubbers 6 and connected to a multi-sectioned chamber 11 for dispensing cleaning solution for effective cleaning, a telescopically operated L-shaped rod 9 attached to the body 1 which extends and positions a disc 8 near the wall, an inductive proximity sensor is integrated on the disc 8 for determining metallic or non-metallic nature of any debris present in drain, and two suction units 10 integrated on disc 8 to extract debris from drain and collected in particular section of chamber 11."
