According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated field joint protecting device for pipelines, comprises a body 1 developed to be positioned on a ground surface, plurality of motorized wheels 2 for providing movement to the body 1 on the surface, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 3 to evaluate a 3D mapping of the surrounding as well as determine presence of interim pipeline, a touch interactive display panel 4 for displaying the evaluated mapping and also enabling the user to select a portion of the pipeline where the user desires to apply a protective layer of coating, a LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) sensor detecting exact location and dimensions of field joint present on the pipeline, an electronically controlled nozzle 5 for spraying epoxy solution over the detected field joint, and a ball and socket joint 8 for providing multi-axis rotational motion to the robotic arm 6."
