MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411018814 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on March 14, 2024, for 'automated food serving assistive device.'

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated food serving assistive device, comprising a body 1 stored with food item, a touch interactive display panel 2 accessed by user for selecting quantity of food item to be taken out from body 1, a motorized opens for allowing accessing of stored food item, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 4 determines kind of food item, a motorized sliding unit 5 arranged on periphery of body 1 to translate a suitable serving tool 6 towards food item, a linear actuator 7 integrated on handle of which extends/retracts tool 6 for positioning a scoop/jaws integrated in tool 6 near food item, a motorized ball and socket joint 8 provides angular movement to scoop/jaws to pick user-specified quantity of food item, a proximity sensor detects distance of an auxiliary container and body 1, in accordance to which actuator 7 and joint 8 positions picked food item on container."
