MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411022921 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 23, 2024, for 'automated garment folding device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated garment folding device comprises of, a platform 1 configured with multiple plates 2 to receive a garment positioned by a user that is to be folded, a microphone 3 to receive voice command of the user regrading requirement of folding of the garment, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 4 to determine positioning of the garment over the plates 2, multiple V-shaped to grip edges of the garment, a motorized sliding unit 6 to provide translation to the clippers in a manner to stretch the garment, a textile sensor to determine type of fabric of the garment, a motorized hinge joint to provide rotation to the plates 2 to fold the gripped garment, and a pair of robotic grippers 7 to grip the folded garment, and a motorized conveyor 8 to translate the folded garment towards the tray 9 for packing the garment."
