MUMBAI, India, Nov. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411025531 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on March 28, 2024, for 'automated gripping assistive device for disabled.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Shweta Lamba; Mandeep; Dr. Ranjan Sariyal; and Ishan Sharma.
The application for the patent was published on Nov. 14, under issue no. 46/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated gripping assistive device for disabled, comprising a frame 1 having a curved member positioned on a walking support, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 2 determine dimensions and shape of top portion of walking support, multiple motorized hinges 3 tilt portion of member to get positioned over top portion, plurality of suction units 4 adheres frame 1 on top portion of walking support, a tubular structure 5 arranged over member is accessed by user for acquiring a grip over walking support, a moisture sensor monitors moisture level of user's hands, plurality of plates integrated with Peltier unit cools plates, multiple motorized iris lids allowing exposure of user's hand with internal portion of structure 5, and a motorized fan installed inside structure 5 to blow air along internal portion of structure 5 that strikes with plate for drying moisture of user's hand."
