MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411012980 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 22, 2024, for 'automated groundnut shell-opening device.'

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated groundnut shell-opening device, comprising a platform 1 configured with multiple rods 2 provides support to platform 1 on a ground surface by means of suction cup 3, a chamber 4 storing multiple groundnuts, a touch interactive display panel 5 input details regarding a quantity of ground nuts that user desires to be processed for actuating motorized sliding unit 6 for providing movement to the lid 7 in order to expose outlet, a weight sensor detecting quantity of groundnuts for actuating the motorized conveyor 8 for translating user specified quantity of groundnuts from chamber 4 to a plate, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 9 determines transferring of groundnuts on plate for actuating pull-up shelf arrangement for pressing and revolving groundnuts, and a color sensor detecting shell of groundnuts along with nuts for actuating a pair of robotic griper for picking and transferring nuts."
