MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411014323 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 27, 2024, for 'automated paper binding device.'
Inventor(s) include Manisha Duggal; Preeti Dobal; Shruti Kalia; and Sandeep.
The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated paper binding device, comprising a body 1 positioned on a ground surface, a conveyor belt 2 arranged inside the body 1 for accommodating pile of papers, a plate 3 positioned inside the body 1 for receiving the translated pile, an imaging unit 4 installed inside the body 1 to determine dimensions of the pile, a telescopically operated bar 5 suspended from ceiling of the body 1 via a motorized dual axis sliding unit 6 to translate the bar 5 over side of the pile, plurality of hydraulically operated sharp pins 7 arranged with the bar 5 for punching hole at evaluated points, a motorized roller 8 coiled with a string arranged inside the body 1 for unwrapping the string, a motorized gripper 9 integrated inside the body 1 for engaging the string on the punched holes in a spiral fashion to initiate spiral binding of the pile."
