MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411010786 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 15, 2024, for 'automated plant grafting device.'
Inventor(s) include Rachna Manchanda; Prof. Dinesh Arora; Nikhil Rana; and Ankit Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated plant grafting device comprises a body 1 arranged with a touch interactive display panel 2 for user input, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 3 to determine location of a understock plant breed, plurality of motorized wheels 4 arranged underneath the body 1 to move the body 1, a laser measurement sensor integrated on the body 1 for monitoring dimensions of the plant, a robotic arm 5 installed on the body 1 to position a pair of extendable blades 6, an electronically controlled nozzle 8 integrated with a chamber 7 for sprinkling a plant growth enhancer, a motorized gripper 9 assembled in the body 1 for gripping the scion, a motorized clamp 10 arranged on the body 1 for encircling the cut portion, and a motorized roller 11 for unwrapping a tape, a motorized clipper 13 arranged on a motorized circular slider 12 to grip the tape."
