MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441012955 A) filed by JAIN, Bangalore, Karnataka, on Feb. 22, 2024, for 'automated plant pruning device.'

Inventor(s) include Pratham Majumder.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated plant pruning device comprises of a body 1 developed to be installed over rim of a pot by means of a motorized clamp 2 integrated underneath the body 1, a touch interactive display panel 3 arranged on the body 1 for user input, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 4 installed on the body 1 and synced with an ultrasonic sensor to determine shape and dimensions of the potted plant, an extendable motorized curved sliding unit 5 to extend for establishing an arc-like structure till height of the plant, a shredding blade 6 to cut the portion of the plant, an extendable link 7 extend/retract for positioning the blade 6 at varying depth of the plant as per the evaluated pattern, plurality of omnidirectional wheels 8 for translating the body 1 in order to perform pruning of the plant from different directions."
