MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411003678 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 18, 2024, for 'automated plant trimming device.'

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated plant trimming device, comprises of a platform 1 utilize be positioned in proximity to a plant that is to be trimmed, a touch enabled screen 2 installed on the platform 1 to give input commands regarding a shape in which the plant is to be trimmed, a camera 3 mounted on the platform 1 for capturing multiple images of the plant, pair of motorized blades 6 configured underneath the platform 1 via a pair of two-axis lead screw arrangements 7 for providing suitable bi-directional movement to each of the blades 6 in view of trimming the plant in the user-defined shape, a pair of motorized hinges 8 incorporated between the blades 6 and arrangements 7 for tilting at required angles for accurately trimming the blades 6, and a PIR (Passive Infrared) sensor arranged on the platform 1 for detecting presence of living being in the plant."
