MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441012942 A) filed by JAIN, Bangalore, Karnataka, on Feb. 22, 2024, for 'automated railroad spike removal device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated railroad spike removal device, comprising a rectangular extendable frame 1 positioned over railway tracks by means of plurality of motorized double flanged wheels 2, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 3 determines intermediate distance of tracks and accordingly actuates frame 1 to extend to get accommodated over tracks, a computing unit accessed by a user input a distance up-to which railroad spikes are to be removed for providing movement to frame 1, an ultrasonic senor monitor distance of spikes from members 4 for actuating hydraulic rods 5 for positioning motorized grippers 6 over railroad spikes, and a motorized ball and socket joint provide movement to members 4 in a manner to position gripper 6 over a chamber 8, the grippers 6 release and pulled out railroad spikes from track up to user specified distance."
