MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411013465 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 24, 2024, for 'automated railway track maintenance device.'

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an automated railway track maintenance device, comprising a body 1 to be positioned in proximity of a railway track, a camera 2 mounted over the body 1 detecting railway tracks, multiple wheels 3 attached beneath the body 1 for maneuvering the body 1, a laser sensor 4 installed over the body 1 analyzing levelling of the surface, multiple suction units 5 installed within each of the wheels 3 for securing the body 1 on the surface, a motorized clamp 6 attached over the body 1 via a lifting arrangement 7 for pulling up the railway track at optimal level and a flap 8 attached on the body 1 via a telescopically operated rod 9 to fill ballast under the track for maintaining appropriate level of track."
