MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411020708 A) filed by Shobhit Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on March 19, 2024, for 'automated ring flange welding device.'
Inventor(s) include Varun Bansal; Rajesh Pandey; Shikha Chaudhary; and Rajiv Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated ring flange welding device, comprises of a platform 1 positioned on a ground surface, a clamping unit 2 arranged on the platform 1 is accessed by a user to engage a ring flange that is to be welded, an imaging unit 3 to determine dimension of the flange, a motorized slider 4 for translating a gripper 5 integrated on the slider 4 towards flange to acquire a grip over the flange, a transformer 6 to transmit electric current across gripper 5 and the clamping unit 2 results in application of force towards flange leading to welding of the flange, a robotic arm 7 to position the welded flange on a tray and an extendable L-shaped bar 8 configured with a grinding wheel 9 to smoothen surface of the flange in order to impart a smooth finishing on the welded flange."
