MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411024145 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on March 26, 2024, for 'automated socks wearing assistive device.'

Inventor(s) include Komal Bhatia; Mahi Mahajan; Nikhil Monga; Madhuri Agrawal; and Suprina Sharma.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated socks wearing assistive device, comprising a vertical frame 1 with a pair of handles 2 that are accessed by a user for acquiring a grip on frame 1 to position distal end under user's feet, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 3 determines dimensions of user's legs, a pair of telescopically operated rods 4 positions ends of rods 4 in proximity to user's feet, a pair of plates 5 positions each of plates 5 underneath user's feet, an ultrasonic sensor monitors curvature of user's feet, plurality of electronically controlled hinges 7 tilts portions of plates 5, a proximity sensor monitors distance of a pair of socks, a pair of motorized clamping units 8 acquires grip engages socks on plates 5, and a pair of motorized grippers 9 grips on ends of engaged socks and drag socks along user's feet."
