MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411026054 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 29, 2024, for 'automated spiral-binding device.'

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated spiral-binding device, comprising a platform 1 positioned on a fixed surface by plurality of suction cups 2, an expandable slot 3 arranged on the platform 1 for enabling a user to accommodate a stack of paper, an imaging unit 5 installed on the platform 1 to determine dimensions of stack, a motorized flap 6 arranged on the slot 3 for securing the stack in slot 3, a display panel 7 installed on the platform 1 for receiving user's input, plurality of pins 11 arranged on a bar 9 by means of a slider 10 for getting positioned over evaluated distances, a hydraulic actuator 12 integrated in both rod 8 for punching the stacks according to requirement, a robotic arm 14 integrated on the platform 1 to grip user-specified spiral tubes from a chamber 13 for engaging in punched cavities, a cutting unit for cutting extra ends of binding."
