MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411010377 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 14, 2024, for 'automated spoke wheel maintenance device.'
Inventor(s) include Sagar Chaddha; Dr. Sukhpreet Kaur; and Dr. Manish Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated spoke wheel maintenance device, comprising a platform 1 configured with multiple rods 2 that provides support to platform 1 on a fixed surface, a suction cup 3 is attached with each of rods 2 for affixing with surface, a U-shaped holder 4 assembled on platform 1 for accommodating a spoke wheel, a cavity is crafted on holder 4 for providing support to wheel's hub portion, an ultrasonic sensor determines distance between wheel and platform 1, a telescopic link 5 assembled on platform 1 for extending to position a motorized roller 6 in contact with wheel's surface for rotating on its axis to rotate wheel, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 7 determines any bent spokes on wheel and accordingly microcontroller actuates a robotic link 8 configured with a straightening tool 9, attached with platform 1 for engaging and straightening spokes."
