MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411004000 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 19, 2024, for 'automated track ballast spreading device.'
Inventor(s) include Lakshman Singh.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated track ballast spreading device comprising a platform 1 configured with plurality of motorized grooved wheels 2 positioned on a railway track, a touch enabled screen 3 installed on the platform 1 to input commands for laying ballast between the railway track with a distance up-till which the ballast to be spread, an Archimedes blade 4 attached with the platform 1 to rotate for collecting ballast and transfer the ballast on a conveyer 6, a curved-shaped unit 8 configured with the chamber attached with a first side of the platform 1 to dispensed the ballast between the tracks, a motorized slider 11 configured on the platform 1 for providing a translatory motion to the flaps 10 for evenly spreading the ballast, a GPS module for fetching real-time location coordinates of the platform 1 and a computing unit 8 for notifying the user regarding path on the track."
