MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411003996 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 19, 2024, for 'automated turf manufacturing device.'

Inventor(s) include Ravneet Kaur Sidhu.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated turf manufacturing device, comprising a body 1 arranged with a touch interactive display panel 2 for enabling a user to input user-desired dimension of turfs, an AI-based imaging unit 3 determines length of grasses and accordingly depth of roots of grasses is evaluated, two telescopically operated links 5 extends and positions a cutting blade 4 under soil till evaluated depth, a hinge joint 6 integrated between links 5 and blade 4 to orient blade 4 horizontally, four motorized track wheels 7 moves body 1 till for cutting of turf followed by re-orienting of blade 4 vertically to cut turf, an extendible rod 9 extends and positions a C-shaped plate 8 over layer of soil followed by retracing path to rolling turf and collected on body 1 by a robotic arm 10, and a moisture sensor synced with an air blower 11 for maintaining optimum moisture level of turf."
