MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411003988 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 19, 2024, for 'automated waste collection and segregation device.'

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated waste collection and segregation device comprising, a frame 12 having a first 1 and second portion 2 developed to be installed on a ground surface, multiple chambers 3 each designated for storing a particular category of waste are arranged within first portion 1 that is accessed by a user for dumping different categories of waste in a segregated manner, a motorized primary iris lid 5 integrated on chambers 3 to get opened for allowing user to dump the waste within chambers 3, a sensing module 6 integrated within each of chambers 3 for determining material of waste, multiple conduits 7 connecting chambers 3 with each other to ensure proper segregation of dumped waste, multiple vacuum pumps 11 are linked with conduits 7 and pipes for enabling successful transfer of waste between chambers 3 and vessels 9."
