MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311088301 A) filed by Sanskriti University, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, on Dec. 22, 2023, for 'automated wooden workpiece joining device.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Ashok Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated wooden workpiece joining device, comprising a cuboidal body 1 positioned on at-least two workpieces and configured with plurality of rods 2 that provides support to body 1, a laser sensor for detecting thickness of the workpieces, an inverted L-shaped telescopic bar 3 configured with a motorized clamping unit 4 to position clamping unit 4 at one side of workpieces, a multi-sectioned chamber 5 for storing multiple different sized screws, an inlet 6 for allowing withdrawal and refilling of screws, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 7 for determining am appropriate portion on which a screw to be installed, and a robotic gripper 8 for withdrawing and engaging one of screws with a magnetic tip attached with a motorized drilling unit 10 for inserting and drilling screw inside workpiece via a cylindrical cavity 12."
