MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621009358 A) filed by Marwadi University, Rajkot, Gujarat, on Jan. 29, for 'autonomous sewer maintenance device.'
Inventor(s) include T. Kesava Amrutha; M. Siri Chandana; Simrin Fathima Syed; Dr. Madhu Shukla; Vipul Ladva; Akshay Ranpariya; and Neel Dholakia.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An autonomous sewer maintenance device, comprising a housing 101, a plurality of motorized omnidirectional wheels 102 for autonomous movement around a sewer, a touch display panel 103 to provide input specifications regarding cleaning of the sewer, a barrier deployment unit to deploy, align, and position barriers 105 to ensure safe perimeter formation around the sewer, a lid-lifting unit to engage and lift a roadside sewer lid, a cleaning unit to remove, collect, and store solid and semi-solid waste, clean residual mud and debris, and sanitize the sewer surface, a weather forecast module to monitor environmental conditions including rainfall, temperature, and humidity, and an AI-enabled imaging unit 117 for capturing and processing high-resolution images and videos of the sewer and surrounding areas, and one or more RGB lights 110 to illuminate the perimeter and alert nearby personnel."
